Building a Fire Pit
Here is how we built a DIY fire pit in a weekend.
Sometimes the job doesn't seem as enormous as it is until you're in the middle of it!
This is our yard before...
The muddy corner where nothing grew because it was all shade and our two dogs ran through it all day.
Meet the culprits: Kirby & Kody
Here is what we did about it...
Step #1: Mark off the space and lay a border.
Step #2: Decide where you want to put the fire pit.
We used Nicolock Pavers.
A circle will require 15 stones.
We started with the first layer, working diligently to make it level.
We added the next 3 levels on top of the first.
You can use cement or a non combustable adhesive if you wish.
These blocks are heavy and don't move easily!

Transfer Methods & Cute Little Pillows
I made the cutest little pillows thanks to The Graphics Fairy
This one was transferred with the Citrasolv method.
And in case you don't know, painters drop cloth comes in different weights. Not all painter's cloth is the same! Originally I bought one from Home Depot, the fabric was great, loved it, but it was very rough. I got another one from Lowes, it was much softer, the same weight, but the fabric was softer and easier to work with. These pillows were printed in my printer believe it or not. I stuck the fabric to sticker paper, trimmed it to the size of the 8x10" size, ran it through the printer (with my fingers crossed), and it actually worked....very well too I might add! IKEA Cart Mini Island
I don't know what other people do when they can't sleep and wake up at 5:00 am but here's what I did Saturday morning...
My plain IKEA cart never looked as good as it does right now! I've had mine for years and it looked like this...
Nice green color but hey, I have nothing else to do this early, I've already had 2 cups of coffee, so how about painting it white?
Wow! Better already!
Now how about the top?
First I sanded the top to bring it back to the original color.
Then I began beating it with a hammer to distress it...
I wanted to duplicate the look of an old antique bread board I have, it has nail holes on the sides that look very rustic.
I can do that!
I began by banging in some black tacks all the way around.
Then I mixed black and brown paint with an antiquing glaze.
I st…
