Pergola Wood Toolbox... My First Build!

Here it is... the real deal!
I worked on it all day today, from scratch!

I had this wood in the garage... funny story.... One day
I saw this old weathered wood on the side of the road!
Great find! I thought....

I pulled over, put about 10 boards in my
car and drove home... When I got home and took out the wood I realized it was from an old pergola that someone took down...

Great find!
Except... that it had termite holes all over it!
Now if you know anything about termites, you know that you don't want them on your property... They eat your house!

So...
Almost (yes almost) all of the wood went to the curb.
Except...
A couple of pieces that had that great pergola cut in the wood...
I had to have it, I checked it really carefully
and didn't see any termites, so fingers crossed, I'm using it today!

I love the shape of the wood!

I started out by cutting the pieces I needed, thanks to
 Donna's great directions...
(see Donna... I do have a jigsaw)

Notice the professional work bench...
(Yes, the chair is still in one piece)
Once I had all the pieces cut, I drilled 2 holes for the handle.

Then I began assembling the box.

I gave the whole thing a good sanding with the
palm sander to even out my rough edges...
Then I painted it white.

And added some numbers that I painted with
bronze metallic paint.

Then I added the handle...

Yep, that's a crowbar...

And ta-dah! I made a tool box from scratch today...

It was a lot of fun and I love the way it turned out!
I think I'll make a few hundred more!
