This leftover piece from another project got a new life in my own kitchen.

If you saw my last post on the very ugly lamp,
here is a photo holder using more of the lamp parts.

Seems as if the whole family's gotten into the act...
and in honor of Earth Day we are saving this lamp from the dump!

A beautiful hand carved antique frame....

This DIY log holder project is brought to you 
today by my husband Jim and a couple of friends we've made along the way. 
This DIY log holder is the perfect place to store the logs we need for our fire pit. We also use the logs on this rack for our indoor wood burning stove. Please read all the way to the bottom for the latest improvements to this design.

I try not to take myself too seriously.

Sometimes when I'm bored I like to see what I can create from what I have around the house.
Truth be told many times I take my creation apart after I've built it.
So if you're reading my blog one day and you say to yourself "what the heck is she thinking..."  
I'm not, I call it DIY practice.
I'm exercising the right side of my brain.
So in keeping with the "I have no idea what I am going to do with this" theme today...
I started with this crate.

I stained it with a vinegar/steel wool solution and added some bling; a hook to the side and a cork tile.

then an old piece from an outdoor lamp as a stand.

I made push pins with numbered scrabble tiles and thumb tacks.

And I was done!

Really? Just because it is missing a slat?
Don't you know it can be fixed? I mean come on, it's a great heavy piece with beautiful carving and it's even pegged together!

I am no carpenter but this is a pretty easy fix.... not perfect but who cares! It's adorable!

I'm going to paint it a bright, beautiful color and add great pillows so it looks awesome on my deck this spring.

I mean really.... Thanks for throwing out such good stuff!
