These stackable wooden wine racks got a coat of white paint and with a little sanding the crate-like loveliness came shining through.
Creating a Farmhouse Style Dish Rack
I pulled over for a very interesting find recently...
I wasn't exactly sure what it was when I found it because it was getting dark but I pulled over and threw it in the trunk. It looked to me like it was the perfect piece to give a little farmhouse kitchen style.
When I got home I discovered that it was actually a cabinet piece that was probably a built-in to hold dishes in a kitchen. It had a bead board backing and wooden spindles.
It is a very rustic piece, made of pine with very rough cuts, no fine carpentry here but I liked it and knew it had potential. The first thing I thought was that it needed to be a little taller.
I built an apron around the base then added legs that were leftover from another project.
All it needed now was a coat of paint to unify the whole piece. I used An…

Best Rugs for the Kitchen
Have you ever wondered about putting a rug in the kitchen?

I hemmed and hawed over whether or not to put an area rug in my kitchen. I had images in my head of it being covered with red juice, chocolate, and just being an absolute mess.
Well I bought a rug and that didn't happen!
After having my cabinets painted, and you can see that process HERE, I wanted something gray and off white like the paint.
I ordered this Striped Chevron Rug from Ballard Designs.
This rug is an indoor/outdoor rug, the colors were perfect, and it was reasonably priced too.
I figured that if it ever got dirty, I could take it outside and hose it off.
I am here to tell you that the rug has been down in the center of my busy kitchen…
