My project began to
take shape when I cleaned out the garage...

Now while cleaning out the garage is nobody's
favorite job... you can find all kinds of treasures.

Pieces I've been saving for a long time
were suddenly coming together in my mind.

A vintage bicycle pump
(which was actually mine when I was a kid)
and the broken leg of an old cast iron outdoor bench...

a piece of reclaimed wood and some rusty pieces of hardware.

All these things I pulled together to create a unique hook
with a little shelf at the top.

The reclaimed wood got a coat of wax
to bring out the rich color. A coat of matte varnish
sealed the rusty patina on the iron chair leg.

The bicycle pump handle is attached to a piece of
an old lamp that screws through the chair leg and into the wood.

The resulting height of the handle
created plenty of room to hang a towel.

Creating with these unique pieces just go to show that broken
and outdated pieces can be repurposed & reloved.

I'm hanging it on the deck right now with a cute little candle
on the shelf.
