I came home from a recent junking expedition  with all this cool stuff...

and today I'm using some of it...

I love finding unusual things at the thrift store and discovering new uses for them.

This was a metal basket I've never seen before. If anyone knows what it may have been used for please let me know.


I started out by removing the wood from the handle and leaving just the wire metal. 

I mounted the basket to a piece of mahogany with a length of chain as a hanger.

A metal tag and a repurposed piece of hardware keep the basket secured to the wood. 
The basket has a great industrial look.

It is the perfect place for a pretty container of spring flowers.
The basket can hang inside or out and looks beautiful!

I love finding unique things in the thrift store!

I bought myself a new saw... and I love all the new things I can do with it... like cutting metal for one!

This little oak table was left standing alone at the end of the flea market with a sign that said FREE...

These cute little chalkboards are created with old rulers, 

an old vinyl roller shade, and DecoArt Americana Chalkboard Paint




I created alarge chalkboard a while back and it's been hanging in my kitchen for years... I love it!



This time I'm making a couple of smaller chalkboards.
I started by cutting the window shade vinyl in 1 foot pieces and painting them with DecoArt chalkboard paint. I attached old rulers on the front and scrap wood on the back. The shade and a length of jute for the hanger are sandwiched between the wood.  
Wood glue and small tacks secured the painted shade between the layers of wood.

I ain't gonna lie...  this idea came straight from the Country Living Fair

I love finding new and fun transfer methods. This fabulous transfer is done on galvanized steel!


Today I am trying a new transfer gel called Omni Gel.

This was honestly just an experiment and it worked the very first time.
I used a product I saw on Pinterest called Omni Gel. I got mine on Amazon.com

I followed the directions on the package... it was simply painting a few coats on top of a print from my computer. 
The print was not reversed. When the few coats of Omni Gel have dried you rub off the paper and you are left with a plastic film of gel with the picture on it.

I placed the gel film onto the pitcher then gave it another coat of Omni Gel over the top.

When it dried I got a PERFECT transfer and I can not wait to try it on something e…

Today I'm transforming this old chandelier.

I was one of the lucky Hometalk Bloggers that got VIP tickets to the  Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck, NY this weekend!

I love finding cast-offs and salvaged pieces and I love to turn them into something fabulous!

This metal canister was just too  cute to pass up at a garage sale last weekend.

I created a great wall hook displayfrom vintage hand tools last year but this time I'm giving them a new look.

This cute little table looked so sad when I got it. 
The milk paint on it literally blew off.
