It was time to get rid of the old picnic table from the side of the house but I have trouble throwing out anything that can be used again...

This old picnic table is almost 50 years old and was used by my family when I was a child. The table has been around a long time but hasn't been used for anything in the corner of my yard for years.

A shutter shelf with vintage style.


Don't throw away those old shutters you find on the side of the road... 
or the ones that used to be on your windows.... 
they can have a new life.



I come across old shutters all the time... and here is what I do with them...

I began by adding 2 shelves with a piece of molding underneath for a bracket. 
I screwed the shelves to the shutter from under the shelf and from the back. 
When the shelves were secured I painted the entire piece with Fusion Mineral Paint in Lily Pond. 
Fusion Mineral Paint is great for my projects. 
Requires no sanding or priming and the best part is there is no need to seal the paint. 


When the paint was dry I distressed using fine sandpaper. 
Aged clothespins hold notes and photos to the shutters.

Repurposing a chandelier into a planter...
This project began with a chandelier left over from our school fair flea market... 
I can not imagine why someone didn't snatch this up!
I knew right away what I wanted to do with this... I pinned a great tutorial from the DIY Showoff a while back. 
I started out by removing all the electrical parts and using E6000 I glued terra cotta pots to each arm of the chandelier.
I spray painted the chandelier with Krylon ColorMaster paint and primer in one. The color Oxford Blue matches my outdoor furniture.

When the paint dried I filled each pot with pretty pink petunias.
This chandelier planter is hanging from my outdoor gazebo and looks beautiful.

I turned an end table into a rolling bar cart today and I'm loving it for my outdoor parties.

I just love creating something from nothing...
Pieces that may have ended up in the trash under normal circumstances I saved in my junk pile so someday they could be put to good use.

For this project I started with a finial from a curtain rod, an enamelware plate, and the top from a broken post lamp.


I put these pieces together using E6000 glue and the screw attached to the bottom of the finial.
