Repurposed Headboard Coffee Sign
You just never know what you are going to find for free!
I knew when I saw 2 headboards on a Facebook site that they had a ton of potential.
The best part was they were for FREE.
I was hoping they could be disassemble to use the parts for other projects.
And I could!
First of all they had so many fabulous pieces and they came apart very easily!
I popped out the little wooden caps on the top and bottoms of each spindle, then unscrewed them from the headboards.
Next I pulled off the top and bottom boards and trimmed all the pieces with my chop saw.
You can bet you will be seeing each of these pieces in future projects.
I am adding Amazon affiliate links to my post so you can find the products
I use at no additional cost to you.
The piece I was most interested in was the curved top of the headboard.
I painted the piece with Pure White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®
Next I used one of my favorite coffee stencils from Old Sign Stencils.
Old Sign Stencils has an amazing selection of high quality stencils and this one was the perfect size and shape for this project.

I sealed the sign with clear wax then applied a coat of dark wax to give it a beautiful aged look.
Using clear wax before you dark wax gives the dark wax a surface to blend on without coming out too dark.
I'm happy to say that this beautiful sign is being donated to a local fund raiser for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Because I found two beds, I have another headboard just like it waiting in the wings!
I think I'll make another sign similar to this one but with a LUNCH stencil which is one of Donna's newest stencils over at Old Sign Stencils.
