Rustic Distressed DIY Driftwood Ornaments

Now that I have your attention, I'm reposting a very popular ornament post from a few years ago.

My first thought was to find vinyl Christmas words online 
to use for my project.

But in the end I decided to hand paint them.  

I used scraps of driftwood I found on the beach. I just love hunting for driftwood scraps on the beach.

I gave them a quick coat of white spray paint then hand painted Christmas words with a Sharpie oil-based paint marker.

I gave them a quick sanding for a distressed, rustic look.

I drilled holes in the corners of each block and
wrapped waxed twine around the ends and through the holes of each block.

I finished some off with a flannel ribbon and a DIY rusty mini clothespin.
