Uniquely Inspired Plaid Lazy Susan
Sometimes inspiration for a project comes from the strangest places!
I had a lazy Susan in my workshop salvaged from a recent classroom purge.
It was a little on the boring side and I had made several farmhouse styled lazy Susans in the past so I wanted to try something new.

I also wanted to try out my new plaid stencil from Old Sign Stencils. I have a special offer for my readers from Old Sign Stencils... see the bottom of this post for more information!
I began by adding a little height to the lazy Susan by attaching the metal frame from an old clock. It was the perfect size and was easily attached to the bottom with a couple of screws.
I base coated the whole piece with Rust-Oleum Chalked Paint in charcoal.
It was at this point that I had to take a short road trip for my daughter's college visit.
While in the hotel room one night I happened to notice the curtains... Holy Cow that was just like the stencil I was going to use on my project!
Inspiration hits at the strangest times!!
So when I got home I had a new look in mind for my lazy Susan... Crazy I know!
I painted painted the lazy Susan in a khaki color I had in my samples of Behr oops paint then began the stencil process using the colors from the curtains.
When the stenciling was finished I added a wooden finial to the center and distressed the edges so a little of the black base coat came through.
The lazy Susan is perfect for a corner cabinet, a round table, or in my case for organizing a shelf in the workshop.
