DIY Scrap Wood Merry Little Christmas Tree
I'm attacking my hoard of scrap wood in the basement
again today with another scrap wood tree.
This time my Christmas tree is extra large, using some of my bigger wood scraps.
I began by building the tree on a 2x2" post. I attached the boards with wood glue and the nail gun.
I built a base from 2 pieces of 2x2" that I wood glued and clamped to both sides of the bottom of the tree trunk.
I gave the tree a quick couple coats of white paint not worrying about being too neat. I wanted some of the wood to show through and then I would distress it with the electric sander.
As I tried to figure out what to use as a star I found 3 pieces from old knobs which I painted white. I attached them in a star shape to the top board with a screw.
I wanted to add words to the Christmas tree so I printed out what I wanted it to say in Word then transferred the lettering to the wood by scribbling on the back with pencil and tracing over the letters.
When all the words were traced onto the tree I used a Sharpie paint stick marker to trace over my letters.

I tied on a buffalo check bow and it's done. This one is one for my front stoop!
Just a pile of wood scraps and a little white
paint is all you need to create something
cute for the holidays!
