My Favorite Front Porch Plants

This is a public service announcement about my front porch plants... I just have to share!

Those of you with a green thumb may think better of this but if you're a little challenged in the plant department like I am, this might be big news.

Front stoop flowers in an urn.

We buy this plant for our front porch every year and have for about 5 years now.

We actually seek it out and grab 2 as soon as we see them.

We buy them at Home Depot and just so you know, I'm not getting paid by them to tell you this.

As you can see it is early Spring around here and our beds and stoop have yet to be spruced up.

These plants are a "Drop-N-Decorate" flower called Dipladenia.

It has a tall plant in the center too but I don't know the name of that one.

According to the directions, you just drop the whole plastic container right into your planter, no transplanting required... and they're right!

These beautiful iron planters were a gift from my class one year many years ago.

You can read all about the make-over I gave them Painting Iron Planters for Spring.

Dipladenia flowers in iron urns on the front stoop

These plants bloom from April until November here in the North East.

They are planted in a partial sun location and they couldn't be happier.

They literally bloom all summer season and well into the fall.

All I do is water them and pluck off the dead flowers.

Even on this cold, rainy April day on a stoop that needs power washing, they look gorgeous!

I just thought you should know about our great find and how beautiful they look for so long!

Here is the same plant in November when it finally started to fade from the cold weather in the North East.

As you can see there were still flowers until the first frost.

I'd say we got our money's worth!
