Repurposed Rusty Vintage Spring Nests

I am not really sure what to call this project but it needs a title so I'm going with this one. I was given these metal things from my friend Thea at Rosie's Antique Shop.

Do you know what these are? I didn't and I had to ask her, apparently they are soap baskets. Hmmm, I don't get it but you put soap scraps in them. Anyway, I liked them for another reason. I'm turning them into birds nests for Spring.
First I had a very long cutting board I never used so I'm repurposing that too. I began by giving it a coat of white paint.

Next, I broke apart the soap baskets and attached them to the cutting board with screws.

Don't they look like nests already? But wait I need to fill them with colored moss for the nest base.

I added a different colored moss to each basket. Then added eggs and flowers.

Aren't these little nests so cute!

The next step was to add a transfer to the top. I found these beautiful transfers from Redesign with Prima, they easily rub on to most surfaces with a wooden stick.

This was a larger transfer that I cut into 3 pieces to fit onto this narrow board.

The transfer was the perfect finishing touch to this unique tiered birds nest.
