Easy Picket Fence Garden Table
This was a quick little project that used up the last pieces of old picket fence I found on the side of the road.
I saw a cute little table that was similar on my friend Carlene's blog. She has gorgeous gardens at Organized Clutter. I knew I had several old pickets leftover so I thought I'd give it a shot building a similar one.
I began by nailing all the pickets together with 2 old pallets I had leftover from a children's picnic bench. There is nothing too level or square about this project so it will be perfect for the neglected side of my house.
I used Cottage Green milk paint by Folk Art to give this bench a quick couple coats of color then added a welcome sign I had made a while back. The color didn't show as the true color in the photo until I brought the table outside. I thought about distressing it with the power sander but I think the milk paint will distress nicely on its own.
On the side of our house is a garden of sorts that needs work. Truthfully, I'm looking at the photos right now and the house needs a good power washing too. My plan is to get some more perennial plants in this full sun area to fill in the spots.
The potting table will hold a few terra cotta pots on the bottom and a hanging basket on the hook.
The top will be the perfect place to pot a plant on this side of the house or to just hold some flowers.
I'm slowly using up all the wood scraps I have in my basement and putting them to good use in my garden.
It's been difficult getting out to the stores to buy gardening supplies and decorations so I'm glad I can put the wood scraps in my basement to good use. I'm keeping myself busy and having fun too!
