How to Stencil a Pumpkin for Fall on Glass
I've had a small glass frame in my stash of things I can't throw away for a long time now. Today I'm repurposing it for the Fall.
This frame is wooden with 2 pieces of glass.
The picture you would put in this kind of frame is usually sandwiched in between the two pieces of glass.
I'm going to use one of those pieces of glass to first stencil a pumpkin.
I'm using Fusion Mineral Paint in Tuscan Orange for this project, the other colors were an inexpensive craft paint.
Fusion Mineral Paint does an amazing job of sticking to almost any surface.
I use it all the time on my repurposed pumpkins that are often made from metal. The pumpkin stencil I used for this project is the Fall Produce Stencil from Old Sign Stencils.
Old Sign Stencils has a gorgeous assortment of well made stencils for any project.
The best thing about stenciling on glass is that if you happen to get a little paint under the stencil, you can easily scrape it off with a razor.
When my pumpkin dried I cut 3 pieces of buffalo check fabric ribbon to the size I needed for the frame.
I removed the wire from the ribbon and cut off the edges to slightly fray the ribbon. You can use fabric or ribbon for this process, I wanted buffalo check for this project and the ribbon worked great.
I coated the ribbon with Mod Podge, laid it down over the stencil, then gave a final coat of Mod Podge over the top of the ribbon.
When the Mod Podge dried, I added a piece of decorative paper over the top of the ribbon then replaced the second piece of glass over the paper.
The design and ribbon were now incased in the glass.
Aside from the difficulty of taking photos without a glare, this project was easy and took no time to complete!
