Wooden Stenciled Christmas Table Runner
Today I'm creating an easy project using a piece of rough hewn pine. It is a quick project that looks amazing for Christmas or with a different stencil, any time of the year!
Step 1:
Grab the following materials for this project that are easy to find and inexpensive:
- Rough hewn pine (the length is up to you)
- A stencil, this one is from Old Sign Stencils
- Weather Wash stain or any kind of stain
- Butcher's wax of any kind
- craft paint
- large handles
Step 2:
Rough hewn wood is wood that was not plained and is very rustic looking.
It is actually the least expensive choice at Home Depot.
Step 3:
Next, I stained the wood with Weather Wash stain in the pine finish.
Weather Wash stain magically turns the wood darker, it also settles into the texture of this wood.
You can use any kind of stain you may have at home for this project.
I let the stain dry then added large black handles to each end of the board.
Step 4:
Now it's time to stencil the board.
I chose the Rustic Christmas Tree stencil by Old Sign Stencils.
This beautiful stencil can be used time and time again through out the season.
I used a light green craft paint for this but any color green would look great too.
In the center of the board I stenciled with one of the newest Old Sign Stencils called Mini Christmas Tree Signs.
This stencil has several different stencils you can use.
Step 5:
Next, when the stencils were dry I waxed the board with Butcher's wax.
This final step will keep any food from staining your board while on the table.
The table runner looks amazing on a long farmhouse table.
Add candles or whatever holiday decorations you want to decorate the runner on your table.
