Rustic Polka Dot Hanging Hearts
This is an easy project with wooden hearts that can be decorated to go with any theme, any time of the year! Plus, I have a few quick hints that make this easy project even easier!
I bought the 2 wooden hearts at Dollar Tree.
These hearts are about 1" thick.
If you don't have a Dollar Tree near you, you can cut out your own or buy 2 wooden hearts from any craft store.
I stained the hearts with a dark stain.
My quick tip for staining small craft projects is using stain cloths.
I cut up a few into small squares and keep them in a plastic container with a lid.
When I need one I use a small square of an old rag to grab a piece of stain cloth and use it on my project.
When I'm finished with the little stain cloth I just toss them in the trash.
Next, I painted the hearts with an off white craft paint and let it dry.
I used a fine grit sandpaper to sand the edges and top of the hearts to let the stain color show through.
Now it was time for the polka dots.
My tip is to use the back of a paintbrush, dip it into the rose pink paint and made dots on the heart.
A thinner paint brush makes a smaller dot for the grey.
You can print the directions for this craft at the bottom of this post.
I created a loop through the hole in the heart with rebar wire and added a rose pink painted bead.
I buy the beads in bulk from Amazon, they. are the best deal I've found.
These hearts are adorable to decorate a tiered tray, hang on the wall or decorate a shelf.
By the way these hearts are for sale at the Homeroad Etsy shop along with a bunch of other seasonal decorations!
