Fish Beaded Garland with a Tassel
I found the cutest wooden fish at the dollar store and being a fish lover I knew just what I wanted it to be!
I've made beaded garlands in the past, they're easy to make and look great in tiered trays or wooden bowls.
But when I saw that fish at Dollar Tree, my heart pitter-pattered because I knew it was going to look great in my fish themed outdoor space.
Don't forget to visit all the bold blue links in this post to see more information or the products I recommend.
First I screwed a tiny eye screw between the fins on the tail.
I tied a length of jute to the eye screw and strung 35 wooden beads on the string.
The beads I use are these from Amazon, they are the best value around!
At the end of the beads I attached an easy jute tassel.
To make a tassel just wrap jute around 4 fingers about 20 times.
Wrap another length of jute around the top of the strands and tie it tight.
I cut the bottom of the tassel so the strands are straight.
I tied the top of the tassel to the end of the beads.
Now it was time to paint the fish.
I wanted it stained because I was leaving the beads natural so I mixed a tiny bit of blue paint with water and painted the fish.
When the fish dried I tied blue gingham ribbon to both ends of the beaded garland.
It looks adorable in a wooden bowl,
or outdoors in the center of my outdoor fish themed table decor.
If you love the blue theme you may want to see how I painted the sling chairs on my deck to give them another year.
I also painted the outdoor cushions blue with a special spray paint made just for outdoor cushions!
We love to work around the yard and in our new vegetable garden with the fence we just built.
I can't wait to get back to the garden later this Spring!
