Sea Glass Art for Kids

Here is a great, easy project to do for the summer.  You can make it for yourself or with your children or grandchildren.  It's the perfect summer beach project!

Do you collect beach glass?

Yeah, me either.

But did you know that you can buy it?

Bags of sea glass can be purchased at the Dollar Tree or on Amazon.

It isn't actually real beach glass but for this, it will be perfect!

I'm calling this a kids project because it can be but if you are a particularly good artist you may want to make a more detailed version for yourself!

For this project I'm repurposing an old sign that apparently came from TJMaxx at one time.

You can find these inexpensive signs at garage sales, thrift stores, or if you're lucky like me, your daughter throws out everything and you grab it from the donation pile!

You may need to sand off the design on the other side with an electric sander if it has any texture that will show through the paint.

I painted the front of this sign white with craft paint

Then I just started gluing sea glass onto the board using hot glue.

Again, if you're doing this project with children you may want to use another kind of glue.

A glue like Super Glue gel is a good alternative but it takes a little time to dry.

You can have a child draw their design onto paper first and then re-create the design onto the board using the sea glass.

Simple designs work best for these larger pieces of sea glass.

This is a great way to remember your vacation (if you were actually lucky enough to find sea glass on the beach.)

Have fun with this project, either with your children or on your own.
