Recycled Sweater Heart Bowl Fillers
Love is in the air! Now that Christmas is over, the hearts are coming out! Are you ready? These cute little bowl fillers are not just for Valentine's day...
I recently cut up an old sweater and created adorable sweater candle wraps.
As you scroll through this post please pay attention to the bold blue links for more Homeroad information and the products I used for this project.
I had a lot of leftover sweater fabric so I looked around for ideas.
The sweater was once one of my favorites that I turned into a pillow like this one.
This project uses the leftover fabric.
I made many very popular heart sachets last year and if you're local, I just added them to the local shop where I sell some of my projects.
So stuffed, no-sew hearts it is!
I began by cutting out a heart out of paper then transferring the heart to heavy cardboard.
I laid the cardboard down on a doubled piece of the sweater fabric and cut around the edges.
I had to be careful to hold the cardboard firmly as I cut so the thick sweater fabric wouldn't slip.
When I was finished cutting I put a tiny dot of hot glue at the top of the heart and glued a jute twine loop for hanging.
Next, I went around the top of the heart with hot glue then glued the top piece to the bottom.
With just the top of the heart glued together I stuffed the heart with a small amount of pillow stuffing.
Lastly I hot glued the bottom of the heart closed.
This was a pretty easy project to make, the hardest part was cutting through 2 layers of this thick sweater fabric.
Sweater fabric frays so it is important to keep your hot glue bead close to the edge of the heart.
These little hearts are perfect for filling a bowl for Valentine's Day.
I like to decorate with neutrals in my home so these hearts are perfect for me!
Another idea is to string the hearts together and create a sweater heart garland.
I just love them in a wooden bowl!
