Dollar Tree Vase Makeover

Have you ever done a DIY that had a lot of potential but you just didn't love it?

Did you ever think about making it over again?

Here at Homeroad I try to do projects that will apply to many styles... even if it isn't mine.

Today I'm changing things up with this crazy post and making over a makeover...

If you missed that makeover you can read all about it in this story where I give you all the DIY details.

I began this project with clear vases and a bag of glass gems from the Dollar Tree.

Cute and I loved the terra cotta painting effect but it just wasn't the neutral style color I need for my home.

So I mixed myself up a mixture of 3/4 cup of off white paint and about 3 tablespoons of baking soda.

You can use a light grey paint to get a cement look too.

I dabbed the paint mixture all over the green vase using a stiff paintbrush.

When the paint dried I mixed a tiny amount of brown paint into my off white paint and dabbed it on for more dimension.

You can add more color for a darker effect.

Ok, this is what I'm talking about!

Now these dollar store vases are perfect for my house!

They are almost like this chenille dot vase I made to match my bed comforter.

Never worry about making over a project if it isn't exactly what you want.

Paint fixes everything!
