Nautical American Flag Pennant Banner
This might just be my favorite banner of all times!
I'm using repurposed materials, a little painting, a little stenciling, and a little iron-on technique.
I created an American flag pennant banner that is great for summer decorating and the best part is that this one is reversible!
See what I mean...
I began with an old stretched art canvas.
I pulled it apart and cut 12 triangles out of the stretched canvas to make pennants.
The size is up to you, my triangles are about 4x6".

I painted the front and back of 6 of the pennants with Fusion Mineral Paint.
On the other 6 pennants I added washi tape stripes.
I painted the spaces between the tape with more red Fusion Mineral Paint.
Next, the washi tape was removed and I was left with the red and white stripes.
When the blue paint dried I placed the blue pennants side by side.
I placed my favorite star stencil over the top and stenciled right across all the pennants at once with white craft paint.
This star stencil comes in a set of several and is my favorite stencil, it gets used all the time!
I used one of the star stencils in the pack to decorate that cute baseball too!

Now back to the red and white striped pennants...
I found this great iron on fusing that I ironed onto a piece of blue fabric.
Next, I laid the red and white pennants onto the blue fabric with the fusing.
I ironed the blue fabric onto the back of the striped triangles and cut out the pennants making them reversible!
Next, I added small copper grommets with a grommet tool to the top corners of each pennant for stringing.
I used cotton macrame cord to string the pennants alternating the stars and stripes with a knot between each flag.
Between each flag I also tied a small piece of drop cloth fabric.
I love the nautical look that I got using the cotton cord and the drop cloth ties.
It looks extra cute hanging with the nautical buoy garland I made recently.
I have so many flag garlands and stars and striped banners hanging around my house this summer!
This one is reversible too so you can hang it for another occasion!
I just love the look!
