Vintage Argyle Shelf and Drawer
Where have you been Homeroad?
It's been weeks since my last post, it's been a hot summer and well frankly, I've been totally unmotivated.
Here's a project I've had on the back burner for a while now and if you're a fan of argyle you'll love this one.
The best part is that this project can be used several ways!
This multi-use vintage shelf can be used in a few fun ways.
First however, I have to decorate it.
I am using this argyle stencil from Old Sign Stencils. I've never really given argyle a second look but when I gave it a try I loved it!
I'm using Fusion Mineral paint in Brook for my first color. Brook is a beautiful light green with a 50's vintage feel.
If you're wondering what the blue painter's tape on the top of my lid is, visit Donna at Funky Junk Interiors for this great paint lid hack!
I stenciled the diamonds on three sides of the shelf.
When the painted diamonds dried I used Coal Black, another Fusion Mineral Paint color, to stencil the cross lines that go over the diamonds.
Woah! I love this argyle! It was very easy to do!
I gave the front of the shelves a quick coat of the green paint then when everything was dry, I used Fusion Mineral Paint's Antiquing Glaze to condition and seal the vintage wood that is part of this beautiful pattern.
The finishing glaze gave the wood a rich finish and darkened the wood.
I filled the shelf with cute little items but then suddenly had another good idea!
If I turn the shelf on its side I can use it as a desk organizer!
Files fit perfectly in the spaces!
And when I added a handle, it fit perfectly into my modular shelf.
This is how I'm using it in my home office.
How would you use this shelf? Would you use it as a shelf or a drawer? Where else could you use this great stencil?
