Rustic Stenciled Pumpkin Patch Sign

I started this rustic fall project because I just put out my fall decorations and I needed a sign.

You'd think I'd have a sign by now, after 12 years of making signs and projects for Homeroad but I don't so I made one in no time...

First, I found an old rough hewn board with lots of texture.

I painted the board in Raw Silk by Fusion Mineral Paint.

When the paint dried I grabbed a few of my favorite Old Sign Stencils for the fall.

I used a combination of these signs...

Fall Produce Graphics

Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Spice

You Pick Orchard

stencils

I took the pumpkin from the Fall Produce stencil, the word PATCH from the Pumpkin Patch stencil and the word Pumpkin from the Pumpkin Spice stencil. Finally I used the words you pick and the 5 cents from the You Pick Orchard stencil.

I began by finding the center of the board and stenciled the pumpkin. I added darker shading at the bottom of the pumpkin using a little dark green paint.

After I finished stenciling the sign I needed to add a black line at the bottom and top of the board.

painters tape with black line

I used Frog Tape to create a small line between the tape and stenciled it in black. Frog Tape is the absolute best painter's tape for no leakage.

When the sign was finished I gave it a good sanding to distress the painted words.

And now I have a pumpkin patch sign!
