Rustic and Repurposed Valentine Sign
Repurposing is my favorite thing to do. It is economical and helps in a small way to keep our planet clean.
My new love is repurposing the signs I've made. They've gotten scratched and damaged, I have too many because of blogging, or I am just tired of looking at them.
Today I'm repurposing an old black sign and it couldn't be cuter for Valentine's Day!
Take a look...
The rustic star was an easy DIY project similar to this one using reclaimed wood.
I cut a piece off of an old black painted sign with a circular saw. My sign was painted white at one time, then black over the top of that. If you don't happen to have one like this you can paint a board white then black and go from there.

I used an electric sander to distress the edges of the sign brining up the wood then over the top of the painted part to bring the white through the black.
I think it looks gorgeous already! Repurposing signs is my new thing. If you missed the repurposed sign risers I made from old signs then check out this post!
I drilled two small holes in the top of the board then used rebar wire as my hanger.
I twirled the rebar wire around a pencil to get the curls then slipped on a small wooden heart with a hole in it.
With a little bit of E6000 I glued the rebar wire into the holes. I like using the E6000 glue in small tubes to keep it from drying out in the big one.
Next, I bought a set of wooden hearts at the Target Dollar Spot in a pack of 6, I glued them to the distressed board using E6000 and hot glue.
Lastly, I tied a piece of cotton ribbon to the rebar wire.

Using mostly repurposed materials brought the cost of this project down to less than $3.

These would be adorable to sell at a craft fair or give away as gifts.
