Scrap Wood Candy Corn
Today I'm using a piece of scrap wood leftover from a project I did with my daughter to create a beautiful Fall decoration you can use many ways.
The piece was a simple piece of primed moulding that was about 3" wide.
This project can be made with different kinds of scrap wood to create different-sized candy corn.
I'm displaying the candy corn I made two ways today.
Take a look...
Like I said, the piece of wood I'm using for this project is about 3" wide and about 1/2" thick.
I began by laying out the board and marking every 3" across the bottom.

I then went back and marked across the top of the board but started 1 1/2" in so that my marks landed in the center of the spaces created below.
I went back with a ruler and connected my markings creating triangles along the board.
I used a jigsaw to cut out the triangles then sanded them all the way around with an electric sander.
Now it was time to paint!
I drew a line about 1/3 from the bottom of each triangle and painted the space with the Georgia Clay orange. Did you notice what I did? I began with the orange, most candy corn has the yellow on the bottom. This was purely an oversight on my part but since they come in all color combinations, all is good!
I'm using craft paint in the colors Georgia Clay and Bright Yellow.
When the orange dried, I painted the center space with Craft Smart paint in bright yellow.
I painted each triangle front and back.
Lastly, I painted the top of each triangle with white craft paint.
I let the candy corn dry for a few hours then used my favorite Rustoleum decorative glaze to stain each candy corn.
When the glaze was dry I used clear furniture wax to buff each piece and give it a clear protective finish.
I had a basket full of cute little candy corn that cost me nothing to make!
You can easily turn these adorable candy corns into a Fall garland using a length of jute and a little hot glue on the back of each candy corn.

This was such an easy project and it looks adorable.
Use them in all your Fall decorating, on a wreath, in a bowl, or turn them into a garland.
