Vintage Ghost Hanger

I had a lot of fun making this ghost today using a recycled can, some wire and cheese cloth.

It is such an easy and inexpensive project that can be made in any size!  You can also make a bunch and hang them around the house!

Use recycled supplies and it's even better!

Take a look...

This is such a cute little hanging ghost and it took no time to make!

I began with a can. I removed both the top and bottom.

Next, I covered the can with a cloth for safety and I pushed down on the can to flatten it.

I used a hammer to flatten the can completely.

Next, I used a tin snip to cut a rounded top to the can.

I created a hanger using a piece of rebar wire. I twisted it into a tiny hanger shape with a space in the center.

I stuck the ends between the layers of the can at the rounded end and used E6000 glue to glue the hanger in place.

I clamped the can until the glue dried.

Now for the sheeting of the ghost... I'm using 2 pieces of washed and dried cheese cloth. You could also used recycled curtain fabric, drop cloth fabric, cotton, gauze, or sheers.

I wrapped the cheese cloth around the flattened can so I had a couple of different length layers.

Using a needle and white thread,  I hand stitched the top of the cheese cloth around the hanger and gathered it at the top of the ghost creating a rounded effect.

Now to antique my ghost a little I'm using a makeup brush and an antiquing stamp pad.

I brushed a little color around all the edges and the edges of the fabric layers.

Lastly, I created 2 ovals from black duct tape and stuck them on for eyes.

You can add a mouth and any face you'd like to your ghost.
