Vintage Heirloom Fabric Ghosts

Have you found any vintage fabric at the thrift store lately or do you have any heirloom fabric that you've been holding onto for years?

I've got a great Fall and Halloween project for you with a vintage vibe today.

I'm using heirloom fabric and a couple of candle stands to create the cutest and easiest ghost duo to decorate your home for Fall.

Take a look...

I began this project with an urge to use some of the heirloom fabric I've been holding onto for years. Actually, my Grandmother held onto it for years too and truth be told nobody down the line from me has the least bit of interest in heirlooms.

Today I'm finally cutting the fabric and creating the cutest little ghosts!

candle sticks

For the stand I'm using a very slim candle stick that came apart. You can also find similar candle sticks at the Dollar Tree. In the base I glued a wooden skewer and I flipped over the part that holds the candle to create the second stand.

I grabbed a small ball of pillow stuffing, you can also use a small styrofoam ball. I wrapped some of my fabric scraps around it.

I wrapped about 3 layers of fabric around the ball of stuffing in all different heights. I used the thinnest fabric for my top layer. This is going to be a very fancy little ghost!

I pulled the fabric around the ball until I had a round shape then tied it again tightly with a piece of jute.

Now it was time to stick the ghost onto the stand with a little bit of hot glue on the tip of the stand.

For the hanging embellishments I am using a tea stained strip of drop cloth and my clickable letter stampers. I use these great stamps all the time!

I spelled out the word BOO and stamped it onto the tiny strip of fabric. The BOO sign is attached to the ghost with one of the vintage safety pins that was on my original fabric piece.

For the second embellishment I am using a puffy sticker from a set I bought at the dollar store and just added a 1 with the Sharpie marker. Even though this was a sticker I used a vintage safety pin on this piece as well.

For the face of my ghost I drew on the eyes with a Sharpie marker. You could also cut out felt circles and glue them onto the head.

That's it!

They look amazing under a DIY cloche too!

I think they are the cutest little ghosts that go with the vintage theme of my home. The best part is that I used these heirloom fabric pieces for this project that may have lived in my attic forever.
